Introducing our third new blogger for this fall, Dominique Diaz, Community Mobilization Intern. Welcome Dominique!
What brings you to NLIRH? I was working at a non profit organization called The Brooklyn Young Mothers’ Collective which is an organization that advocates for pregnant and parenting teens by helping them get back into school, find employment and help with legal issues. There was a law intern stationed at the Collectives that brought to my attention an opportunity to become an Intern at Latina Institute. I read on what they were looking for and thought that I would be right for the position. At the Collectives’ I was learning about Reproductive Health and Reproductive Justice and wanted to learn more and see what I could do to help provide information and resources to women about their Reproductive Rights.
What is it about reproductive justice that gets you going? What gets me going about Reproductive Justice is how broad it is, and how much information you can learn from it. I really feel that its important to give women options that will not only affect her but her family as well.
What are some issues you think you will blog about? Teen Pregnancy, Uninsured Latinas, and Immigration
We are so proud of the contribution Dominique will make to the national conversation about Reproductive Justice! She is thoughtful and her lived experiences will help shape policies for the benefit of all women of color.
