Really great article. A thought: another policy-related reason for differential rates of cervical cancer death and diagnosis besides screening is follow up. What good is a pap smear if you can't do anything about the results? Some public health programs and public insurances, like departments of health and family planning waivers pay for the pap smear but NOT the follow up colposcopy or other treatment if cancer is found.

Another thought/question: you say that Latinas are more susceptible to cervical cancer than other groups- Latinas are more likely to be diagnosed with cervical cancer than other groups, but natiowide Black women are about twice as likely to die of cervical cancer than Latinas. My thinking is that data, especially on Latinos in new-immigrant areas is not good enough yet to understand fully these patterns. As you say, the point is that inequities persist and screening is critical.
