The bill passed by enough to keep away the threat of a President’s veto, passing 68 to 31. The bill would increase funding (by $35 billion over the next 5 years) for health insurance for millions of low-income children.
SCHIP is an extremely important piece of legislation for low-income children and families, particularly those in the Latino community who face high rates of uninsurance.
