1) Fall Research Intern

Position Location: New York City

Responsibilities: the research intern is responsible for assisting the Senior Research Associate on research and writing, and other research-related projects. Specifically, the intern would work closely with NLIRH program and policy staff on:

* Researching, analyzing and writing on reproductive health policies and recommendations including but not limited to the issues of pregnancy, prenatal care, abortion, contraception, and immigrant health.
* Increasing political participation of Latinas by helping develop and prepare curricula on Participatory Action Research
* Supporting and carrying out a qualitative research project on community policy advocacy
* Drafting articles and blog posts regarding reproductive health research and policy developments

NLIRH can provide hands-on experience on a variety of reproductive health and rights issues. Interns will work closely with staff, volunteers and consultants.

Qualifications: *Prior social justice experience; *Strong commitment to reproductive freedom and justice; *Interest in reproductive and/or immigration health research; *Strong writing and research skills required; *Ability and desire to work from home or school at least part of the time; *Fluency in written and spoken Spanish a plus; *Public health/sociology/health psychology/other social science research and writing background a plus; *Candidates with experience or familiarity with participatory action research or research design/data collection/ or data analysis a plus

2) Community Mobilization Program Intern

Position Location: New York City

Currently, we are seeking a Program Intern for the Community Mobilization Department. This is a part time position (20 hours per week) for the fall semester, with an opportunity for a two semester commitment. Our main goal in the Community Mobilization Department is to cultivate a diverse, well-informed and active base of Latino/as capable of mobilizing for social change. The Program Intern participates in a wide variety of projects geared towards strengthening his/her analytical skills through first-hand experience in areas such as community activism, advocacy and leadership development.

Responsibilities: the intern will work closely with the Director of Community Mobilization and the Senior Advocacy Associate on the following projects, but not limited to:

* Assisting in the organization of national campaigns and events
* Communicating with our activists nationwide through e-mail and phone calls
* Assisting in the organization of our trainings (i.e. recruiting participants, research, preparing materials and coordinating logistics)
* Assist and participate in our on-going research projects
* Writing and organizing the distribution of our newsletter Instantes
* Assisting in the maintenance of our database (i.e. data entry)
* Administrative support for various projects

Qualifications: We are looking for a motivated individual who is interested and fully committed to making positive changes in the lives of Latinas and with some experience in social justice issues. Strong research and writing skills are required and fluency in Spanish is a plus.

A monthly stipend will be provided.

NLIRH seeks an experienced, resourceful and innovative individual with strong leadership skills and advanced analytical abilities to promote a national policy agenda designed to advance and protect the reproductive health and rights of Latinas. The Associate Director of Policy shall oversee the development and implementation of NLIRH’s national policy program; serve as NLIRH’s liaison in Washington, D.C.; and develop public education materials on health policy, immigration reform, reproductive health and other issues that pertain to reproductive justice.

Position Location: Washington, DC

The duties of the Associate Director of Policy shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
* Assist in developing NLIRH’s policy positions, in consultation with the Director of Policy and Advocacy, on a range of reproductive health and rights issues;
* Supervise drafting of legislative analysis, research and prepare policy briefs, fact sheets, public education campaign materials and all other policy related publications;
* Build relationships with Congressional staff in order to advance NLIRH’s policy priorities;
* Implement all Washington, D.C. policy-related events hosted by NLIRH;
* Manage operations of Washington, D.C. office and maintain regular communication with the Director of Policy and Advocacy on administrative updates;
* Hire, manage and supervise Washington D.C. policy staff, fellows, interns and volunteers;
* Work with the Community Mobilization program staff to support advocacy campaigns and provide policy-related materials to NLIRH’s constituents and activists;
* Conduct trainings and presentations on behalf of NLIRH at national conferences, events, and congressional meetings and briefings;
* Represent NLIRH in national and local coalitions, and at Washington, D.C. events; and
* Support the Executive Director and/or the Director of Policy and Advocacy on other general responsibilities as needed.

Law or Masters degree in Public Policy, Public Health or related field with a minimum of 2 years policy advocacy experience. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of reproductive health and rights issues and/or social justice issues with experience in policy advocacy, community organizing and coalition building. Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communications skills; Bilingual (Spanish/English) oral and written skills are highly preferred.

New Employment Opportunity at NLIRH: Operations Manager

The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health is dedicated to ensuring the fundamental human right to reproductive health and justice for Latinas, their families, and their communities through public education, policy advocacy, and community mobilization. NLIRH is currently seeking applicants for a full-time Operations Manager. The Operations Manager would assist the Executive Director and would also manage the administrative needs of the office. This is a unique opportunity to work with the only national organization dedicated to reproductive justice for Latinas.

Position Location: New York City

Responsibilities: To oversee and manage all administrative needs of a 10 person office in NYC plus a 2-3 person DC Policy Office. Specific duties include:

o Collaborate with the Executive Director (ED) to develop and implement an effective organizational growth strategy;
o Build systems to support effective communication across the organization;
o Develop effective tracking, information management and systems;
o Support strong relationship between ED and its Board of Directors, including coordinating Board meetings, preparing quarterly reports, and ensuring regular communication;
o Liaise with vendors and service providers;
o Develop effective new employee orientation, systems and policies;
o Manage relationships with benefits vendors, including coordinating annual renewals and troubleshooting for staff as needed;
o Support the ED and Department Directors with schedules, projects and meetings;
o Answer phones and manage messages;
o Track and maintain expenses in QuickBooks;
o Work with NLIRH part-time bookkeeper on developing financial reports, managing expenses and invoices;
o Order and catalogue office supplies;
o Manage all NLIRH office mailings;
o Manage all constituent requests;
o Work with Technology consultant on maintaining computer network.

Associates degree, bachelor’s degree or working towards a degree;
2-3 years of office management experience;
Commitment to reproductive freedom, immigrant women’s rights and social justice;
Fluent in Spanish and English;
Very strong writing, communications and organizational skills;
Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects and requests;
Proficiency in all MS Office programs, particularly Word and Excel;
Familiarity with QuickBooks, or other financial management software.

Salary Range: mid to high $30,000s

Programs Assistant

The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) along with Community Impact Consulting is currently hiring a full-time Administrative Assistant. The position would be working with the NLIRH team twice a week and with Community Impact Consulting 3x a week.

Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant would be responsible for assisting with general office duties, including but not limited to:

Data entry;
Assisting with office mailings and projects;
Copying, faxing, filing, and answering phones as needed;
Supporting all office projects and events.

Qualifications: ** Prior administrative/office experience; **Commitment to reproductive freedom; **Strong writing; **Research skills; **Flexibility is necessary; **Fluency in written and spoken Spanish a plus;

Compensation: This position offers $12.00 an hour between the hours of 9-6pm.
